Eureka Burglary in Progress: 3000 block of Broadway at the Big 5 for a male who broke a window and is reportedly attempting to access the firearm and ammo displays in the store; EPD on scene deploying with rifles. The male is reported to be approaching the door

The Times-Standard is reporting that workers at the county’s solid waste facility in Samoa discovered a woman’s body among recycling that had been picked up in Eureka earlier today.

Caltrans District 1 is posting photos of some of the many trees that have submitted to the forces of heavy wind and loose, rain-saturated soil. 

Last we heard, Hwy. 101 remains closed between Seawood Drive near Trinidad and Orick.

Fernbridge is closed to all traffic. Blue Slide road is down to one lane just south of Price Creek. Locals are directing traffic around a blind curve. Numerous emergency calls are pending around Rio Dell, largely for gas leaks. Rio Dell Fire is triaging and responding as able. Responding mutual aid includes Humboldt Bay Fire sending Engine 8112, Cal Fire Engine 1272 is arriving at the command post for assignment, Arcata Fire is sending one engine and Ferndale Fire is sending one engine

Rio Dell Earthquake: Numerous calls are coming in around Rio Dell for gas leaks and other earthquake related damages. aThe Cal Fire Fortuna ECC is starting multiple mutual aid resources to report to the Rio Dell fire hall for assignment

Caltrans is keeping a close eye on Fernbridge as waters rise. The river’s under a flood watch for tomorrow, so likely nothing until then.

Meanwhile, check out this video of the Mighty Mad flowing near the hatchery at Blue Lake. Tyee City and environs in the Arcata Bottoms are going to have to watch out for high water, too.

The vehicle that dropped the shooting victim off at Mad River Hospital reportedly fled northbound on Janes at a high rate of speed. A CHP officer may have observed the vehicle and a brief pursuit may have ensued. It is unclear (to me) if the vehicle stopped.

HCSO is responding to Arcata for the gunshot victim at the hospital. CHP is possibly behind the vehicle that dropped the patient off at Mad River Hospital. An APD officer over the radio confirmed that this is related to the Crane St. incident in Eureka.

Arcata PD is receiving a call from Mad River Hospital reporting that a vehicle just dropped off a female with a gunshot wound and the vehicle left
