Eureka Slough Bridge, smoke investigation, 101 s/bound, large amount of black smoke and smell of burning rubber as if a vehicle may have gone off the bridge. HBF Sq8174 responding

The Cal Fish & Wildlife officer notified Northern Dispatch that a Humboldt County DA’s Investigator has been notified of tonight’s incident, and HCSO is clearing from he scene.

Very scratchy radio traffic tonight indicates Hoopa Wildland Fire is working something a little way southwest of Shoemaker Ln.. Haven’t heard or seen any other agencies mentioned as being in that area. It seems to be called the Shoemaker incident.

2 medical Aid calls in progress in Eka/Myrtletown, City Amb is tapped out so Fortuna Amb moving an ambulance north toward Eureka for coverage. (Very much SOP in both directions when things get busy)

Samoa IC reports fire has been extinguished, E8215 can handle, cancel the balance and HBF E8115 can go home to Eureka.

Pursuit veh is a white Nissan Ultima, now e/b Hwy 36, “was involved in some type of incident in Rio Dell”

Scanner traffic indicates officers have already made contact with the registered owner of the truck, for which CHP just requested impound towing.

Weapon found in the susp’s truck is a Ruger semiautomatic rifle, check of its serial number comes back as not reported stolen. The truck was previously registered to a party in Garberville, but had a release of liability (beginning of ownership change process) to a person with a Fortuna address. The ownership situation will be followed-up on.
