Eureka Police Department Public Information Officer Brittany Powell reports: “There was a report of two males in a fight with a baseball bat and firearm in the mall parking lot. Officers contacted both males. One male fled into the greenbelt and the other stayed with officers. No bat was located and several witnesses said it was only a plastic gun. The male who stayed with police, was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor drug warrant.”
That man has been identified as Wade Mallett, 48, of Eureka.
Suspects have fled. Gun most likely a replica or a bb gun.

An assault involving a baseball bat and what appeared to be a black handgun, took place moments ago at the Bayshore Mall parking lot. A subjects possibly in possession of a handgun fled northeast into the green belt behind Victoria Place. The subject is wearing a gray sweater. The firearm may be a replica.
