Officers with Hoopa Tribal Police are closing down Highway 96 and will assist HCSO with the search.

To be clear: As best we can tell, police are still treating this as an “active shooter” incident, even though the victim was struck by a vehicle rather than shot. The suspect is believed to be armed.

The suspect in the case is believe to be carrying a gun, though, and police are still flooding into the area. Air support is also on its way.

Emergency personnel have found that one victim associated with the incident — he now appears NOT to have been shot, but instead to have been struck by a vehicle.

There is a report of an active shooter near the Kimaw Medical Center in Hoopa. The Sheriff’s Office is closing all roads at the intersection of Hospital Road and Airport Road. One person is believed to have suffered a gunshot wound.
