CHP helicopter H14 is in the area of Weitchpec assisting HCSO with locating a suspect from a separate incident. H14 inquired about the incident in Arcata but is unable to respond due weather. The most recent automated weather observation at Arcata airport shows ceilings 500 ft. overcast

Medical is enroute to Mad River Hospital with the patient from the shooting. Arcata Fire personnel are riding on the ambulance, likely to assist with patient care and their duty officer has been requested to retrieve the fire engine which was left on scene. It does not sound like any officers were injured

Arcata SHOTS FIRED: APD has shots fired with a suspect possibly down on Mad River Rd. Suspect was reportedly armed with a revolver prior to the shooting. Fire and medical enroute to stage code 3
