TIP FOR VISITING FIREFIGHTERS: Eureka City Manager Miles Slattery lets the Outpost know that all visiting firefighters engaged on the Six Rivers Lightning Complex, many of whom are bivouacked at Redwood Acres, get free admission to the Zoo for the length of their stay. There are worse ways to spend your down time.

todd / 2:25 p.m.
Local agencies responding in water tenders for the immediate need request from the SRF Lightning Complex are being asked to respond to the Willow Creek area to have their radios programmed with incident frequencies before responding to the reporting location on Friday Ridge. An air attack and lead plane are currently over the fire and a number of large type 1 helicopters are also working. Another aircraft just completed an infrared mapping mission. Air tankers are not in the area yet. The inversion has been holding late into the afternoon which has limited the use of aircraft due to poor visibility, but has also helped to moderate fire behavior. Conditions have been expected to change slightly today, potentially increasing fire behavior but also allowing more visibility for aircraft work. It sounds like fire is approaching the lines on Friday Ridge and Titlow

SRF Lightning Complex request for immediate need water tenders to Friday Ridge Rd. at Titlow Hill; For Arcata Fire, Blue Lake Fire, Fieldbrook Fire, Kneeland Fire; Contact Branch 5 on incident frequency when on scene (This will be for the Ammon Fire. I believe firefighters have been putting in line in the Friday Ridge area in preparation for the fire reaching the ridge)
