The climber has been safely extracted by Coast Guard and transferred to the ambulance. Willow Creek Fire advises that it is non-injury and fire units are clearing. The helicopter is returning to McKinleyville.

HW 299 is again blocked in both directions between mile marker 35 and 32 as the Coast Guard helicopter begins a hoist operation to attempt to rescue the climber

The Coast Guard helicopter is back airborne from the air station in McKinleyville and is returning to the Willow Creek incident for what is proving to be an extremely challenging rescue. I believe units have been on scene since well before 6 pm

Coast Guard Helicopter 6547 is off the Willow Creek incident and returning to the airport for fuel. It is unclear if they were successful in effecting a rescue, but it sounds like they are planning to return to the scene after refueling. (I have limited radio reception from this incident. Those with scanners in the more immediate area may be able to receive tactics and air-to-ground on CALCORD)

Coast Guard Helicopter 6547 is inbound for the hoist rescue. Hoopa Ambulance and Willow Creek Fire are staged on HW 299 with HCSO units. Air to ground communications will be on CALCORD (156.075 MHz)

Willow Creek Cliff Rescue: HCSO has been on scene on Highway 299 in the area of mile marker 32-34 with a hiker or climber stuck partway up a rocky hillside. A Coast Guard helicopter was requested for a night hoist rescue and a helicopter is now inbound from the Arcata airport. Willow Creek Fire and Hoopa Ambulance were just ordered code 2 to stage.
