Going Down @ 6:24 p.m.

Sergeant Cory Crnich of the Eureka Police Department tells Andrew Goff this all began from a call they received from someone associated with the Bayshore Mall. A single shot was fired by an EPD officer at “an animal.” No citizens were injured. No officers were injured, and there was no threat to the public, Crnich says.

More information should be available tomorrow.

Bystanders tell the Outpost’s Andrew Goff, who is at the scene of the officer-involved shooting in Eureka, that they believe they heard five shots and that two dogs had been hit. (NOTE: The EPD says this is incorrect, above.)

This is all developing, of course. We’ll have more information later today or tomorrow.
