Arcata/McKinleyville Vehicle Pursuit Update: APD reported that the vehicle was occupied by only the one driver during the pursuit. HCSO is currently tracking the suspect with their K9. APD is responding to the location of the abandoned vehicle on Elmwood.

HCSO is receiving information on 911 from the area of Heartwood and Elmwood just west of McKinleyville Ave. reporting that the pursuit suspects fled from the vehicle on foot. Officers, including an HCSO K9, are on scene at that location.

APD lost sight of the vehicle at Heartwood and Manzanita after terminating again due to high speeds. HCSO is in the area. CHP has also been requested.

Vehicle turned from Sutter onto Park then A St. now westbound on Holly Drive.

Now eastbound on Sutter Rd. from Central

The pursuit vehicle is exiting Highway 101 at School Rd. In McKinleyville and traveling eastbound approaching Central

Arcata Vehicle Pursuit: APD initiated a vehicle pursuit southbound on Highway 101 from Giuntoli. The vehicle fled from a traffic stop reaching speeds of 100 mph. The pursuit was discontinued on 101 near Sunny Brea. The vehicle was seen exiting at Bayside and an APD officer resumed the pursuit. The pursuit passed through the Golf Course Rd. area. The vehicle then turned southbound on Old Arcata Rd. traveling the wrong way into oncoming traffic and officers discontinued. Officers are currently back in pursuit northbound on Highway 101 passing the Highway 299 exit at 80 mph. HCSO and CHP have been notified.
