Sewage Incident in Rio Dell

A new hazardous materials incident involving sewage has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near residence, road, waterways in Rio Dell at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16.

About 1000 gallons of sewage were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

RP states that over 1000 gallons of sewage was released onto ground and towards to Eal River coming from a man hole due to storm surge, the release is ongoing and not contained, mitigation is underway.

This was the 1st hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Rio Dell area this year and the 1st sewage spill in the county overall.
