Incident in Samoa

A new hazardous materials incident has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a beach in Samoa at around 11:38 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

According to NRC #1240013, Caller reports a citizen discovered an unknown cylinder in the surf with unknown contents and brought it to shore. The object appears to have in the water for a while since it no longer has any marking and the Sheriff Bomb Unit thinks it might be a flare. Caller reports Humboldt Bay, Humboldt County and Coast Guard personnel have been on scene and the Sheriff Bomb Disposal Unit will blow it up.

This was the 1st hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Samoa area this year.
