Petroleum Incident in Eureka
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 7:21 p.m. on Friday, April 12.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Per NRC #1242624, "Caller is reporting an unknown sheen on Humboldt Bay at the Woodley Marina." SHEEN COLOR: Rainbow SHEEN ODOR: Diesel SHEEN LENGTH: 30 feet SHEEN WIDTH: 10 feet BODY OF WATER: Humboldt Bay
This was the 1st hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 1st petroleum spill in the county overall.
