Petroleum Incident in Eureka
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 8:15 a.m. today.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Caller states dark black oil was found floating on top of the water, 10-20 gallons, in the Woodley Island Marina. Harbor personnel are handling the clean up. Most likley a boat in the harbor has caused the release.
This was the 21st hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 35th petroleum spill in the county overall.
