Petroleum Incident in Unincorporated County Area Humboldt

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Unincorporated county area Humboldt at around 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

**** THIS IS A POTENTIAL RELEASE **** CALLER REPORTS A SINGLE ENGINE FEDEX AIRCRAFT WENT DOWN IN HUMBOLDT BAY. THE SINGLE INDIVIDUAL ONBOARD WAS RESCUED AND NO DISCHARGE WAS OBSERVED OR REPORTED. THE AIRCRAFT IS CURRENTLY FLOATING ON THE SURFACE AND NO DISCHARGE HAS BEEN OBSERVED. THE EXACT FUEL TYPE IS UNKNOWN.

This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Unincorporated county area Humboldt area this year and the eighth petroleum spill in the county overall.
