Petroleum Incident in Bayside
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Bayside at around 6:45 p.m. today.
About one ounce of a substance described as “oil - unknown pcb” was released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Caller states that a malfunction or failure of an overhead transformer resulted in the release of approximately one ounce of transformer oil (unknown PCB content). The release impacted some soil beneath the transformer.
This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Bayside area this year and the 15th petroleum spill in the county overall.
