Petroleum Incident in Arcata

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Arcata at around noon today.

Less than five gallons of a substance described as “dioesel fuel” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Caller states Dump truck sattle tank was leaking due to unknown reasons causing the release of less then 5 gallons of deasel fuel impacted the asphalt and some of the sourrounding soil. No waterways have been impacted and the responcibale party will conduct the cleanup

This was the third hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Arcata area this year and the 21st petroleum spill in the county overall.
