Petroleum Incident in Capetown
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Capetown at around 5:44 p.m. today.
About 100 gallons of a substance described as “diesel fuel” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
***POTENTIAL RELEASE*** Per NRC Report-Caller is reporting a sunken vessel with no sheen. the vessel has 100 gallons of diesel fuel on board. Vessel name: Wooden Mistress, Vessel Number: 1039605
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Capetown area this year and the 48th petroleum spill in the county overall.
