Petroleum Incident in Whitethorn

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in Whitethorn at around 11:52 a.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Caller states that a transformer failed resulting in the release of approximately 7-8 gallons of Transformer Oil (NON PCB) to vegetation.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Whitethorn area this year and the 51st petroleum spill in the county overall.
