Petroleum Incident in Eureka
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near ship/harbor/port, waterways in Eureka at around 9 a.m. today.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
RP is reporting a sheen coming from an unknown boat in the harbor. The sheen goes across 5 slips and the RP is attempting to locate which slip the releasing boat is in. RP has their marina manager on site, who will be assessing the situation and applying booms and absorbents as required.
PER NRC REPORT: "CALLER IS REPORTING AN UNKNOWN SHEEN FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE IN HUMBOLDT BAY."
This was the 18th hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 55th petroleum spill in the county overall.
