Sewage Incident in Arcata

A new hazardous materials incident involving sewage has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in Arcata at around noon on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Release is due to an overflow which resulted in the material impacting Beith Creek. Cleanup is underway. Release has apparently been ongoing since 1/6/2021.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Arcata area this year and the first sewage spill in the county overall.
