Incident in Fortuna
A new hazardous materials incident has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Fortuna at around 4:03 p.m. on Saturday, March 6.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per the NRC report: THE CALLER STATED THAT A COMPANY THAT SELLS CATTLE IS ALLOWING MANURE TO RELEASE INTO THE EEL RIVER. THE CAUSE HAS BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO STORMS IN THE AREA, WHICH PRODUCE RAIN WATERS THAT WASH THE MANURE INTO THE RIVER.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Fortuna area this year.
