Petroleum Incident in Arcata

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near merchant/business in Arcata at around 1 p.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

The vehicle entrance to the listed business has a light layer of oil on the ground. The source of the oil spill was not known. The reporting party is concerned about the potential environmental impacts due to the frequency of vehicle traffic entering and exiting the facility..

This was the fourth hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Arcata area this year and the 24th petroleum spill in the county overall.
