Incident in Garberville

A new hazardous materials incident has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Garberville at around noon on Tuesday, June 15.

About one Lbs. of a substance described as “suv” was released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

RP states, there has been a SUV in the Eel River for about a week. Also advised Eel River is home to Salmon and Steelhead Trout which are endangered. No information of any release at this time or any other additional details.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Garberville area this year.
