Petroleum Incident in Willow Creek
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near merchant/business in Willow Creek at around 3:30 p.m. today.
About one quart of a substance described as “mineral oil (non pcb)” was released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
RP states a transformer failed due to a mechanical failure causing a release onto concrete and vegetation. Stopped and contained with no waterways impacted. Contractor is enroute to conduct cleanup.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Willow Creek area this year and the 31st petroleum spill in the county overall.
