Petroleum Incident in Ferndale

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Ferndale at around 2 p.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

*** Potential Release***

RP states that there is a vehicle submerged up to the engine compartment in the Eel River underneath the Fern Bridge. Unknown if any of the materials on the vehicle released, unknown cleanup.

This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Ferndale area this year and the 40th petroleum spill in the county overall.
