Petroleum Incident in Eureka

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 4:45 p.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per NRC: "CALLER IS REPORTING A SHEEN ON THE WATER DUE TO A PIN HOLE LEAK IN A HYDRAULIC LINE ON THEIR FISHING VESSEL."
REMEDIAL ACTIONS: "BOOMS APPLIED, ABSORBENTS APPLIED"

This was the 24th hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 53rd petroleum spill in the county overall.
