Petroleum Incident in Willow Creek
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a utilities/substation in Willow Creek at around 11:51 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8.
About two gallons of a substance described as “mineral oil” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Release is due to a pole mounted transformer failing due to weather. The material impacted the soil. Incident occurred sometime near Christmas during a weather event.
This was the third hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Willow Creek area this year and the fourth petroleum spill in the county overall.
