Petroleum Incident in Eureka
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 12:50 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
RP states that there is a small barely noticeable sheen observed on the water due to a vessel sinking in the marina, estimated to be a 40 foot vessel. As of 2 hours prior to this report the vessel was floating. Unknown who will conduct cleanup.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the seventh petroleum spill in the county overall.
