Petroleum Incident in McKinleyville

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in McKinleyville at around 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

A mechanical failure on the hydraulic line of a trash truck caused oil to be released while the trash truck was traveling down 3 streets (Allie Court, LoneStar Dr., Barnet Ave.). The release impacted the asphalt. No waterways impacted. Cleanup has been completed

This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the McKinleyville area this year and the 13th petroleum spill in the county overall.
