Petroleum Incident in Carlotta
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near merchant/business in Carlotta at around 9 a.m. yesterday.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
RP states he witnessed a person walk away from his truck while it was pumping gas, subsequently the fuel-stop did not work and gas overflowed; possibly 10-20 gallons spilled onto the ground. RP states he has seen multiple large clean-ups at this particular business. All spills take place on a gravel parking lot. RP does not believe regulations are being adhered too. RP states business does not have equipment on site for proper clean-up.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Carlotta area this year and the 27th petroleum spill in the county overall.
