Petroleum Incident in Eureka

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Eureka at around 4:10 p.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

RP states, due a vehicle accident, a PG&E vehicle is releasing oil onto the side of the road, sidewalk and a nearby storm drain. RP states the amount that went into the storm drain was minimal. Release has been stopped and contained. Contractor will be conducting the cleanup. Unknown where the storm drain leads.

This was the 10th hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 28th petroleum spill in the county overall.
