Petroleum Incident in Phillipsville

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Phillipsville at around 9 p.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

***Threatened Release***

RP states that a vehicle is in the Eel River in Humboldt County. A 2000 Toyota Tacoma was found by CHP in the river, driver was most likely driving through the river when the vehicle got stuck and sank. CHP notified CDFW regarding this incident. RP will coordinate the recovery with the local CDFW Officer. Driver cannot be located at this time.

This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Phillipsville area this year and the 36th petroleum spill in the county overall.
