Petroleum Incident in Redway

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Redway at around 2 p.m. today.

About five gallons of a substance described as “used oil” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

RP States: A 5 gallon bucket fell out of a pick up truck causing used oil to spill onto the roadway, no waterways were impacted. The suspected responsible party will be handling clean up of the release.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Redway area this year and the 43rd petroleum spill in the county overall.
