Petroleum Incident in Eureka

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 8:45 a.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per NRC: "

Sheen Color: REDDISH
Sheen Odor Description: UNKNOWN
Sheen Travel Direction:
Sheen Size Length: 200 FEET
Sheen Size Width: 200 FEET

Per Reporting Party: Contained within the marina, no impact to Humboldt Bay. Contained with booms and absorbent pads.

This was the 21st hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 50th petroleum spill in the county overall.
