Petroleum Incident in Eureka
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 7:45 a.m. today.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
**POTENTIAL RELEASE** Per NRC report: A 23' fiberglass Pleasure Craft Vessel (#CF1100ED) overturned on a boat ramp and may release material into a waterway, occurring in Humboldt Bay under the Samoa Bridge on the Eureka side, unknown who is handling the containment and clean up.
This was the 26th hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 58th petroleum spill in the county overall.
