Petroleum Incident in Loleta

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Loleta at around 4:25 p.m. yesterday.

About one quart of a substance described as “hydraulic oil” was released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Due to mechanical failure on a vehicle 1 qt of hydraulic oil released onto the roadway. Spill has been stopped and contained with no waterways being impacted. Contractors were on scene and performed spill mitigation and clean up.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Loleta area this year and the 62nd petroleum spill in the county overall.
