Vapor Incident in Unincorporated County Area Humboldt
A new hazardous materials incident involving vapor has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a pipe line in Unincorporated county area Humboldt at around 2:34 a.m. today.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
PER NRC: DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT THE CALLER IS REPORTING A RELEASE OF NATURAL GAS FROM MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION PIPELINES IN THE COUNTY OF HUMBOLDT, CA. THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT WAS DUE TO AN 6.4 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE THAT OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 20, 2022 AT 0234 IN THE MORNING. THE CALLER STATES THAT THERE WERE MULTIPLE CALLS OF ODORS IN THE AREA BEFORE THE CALLER DISPATCHED CREWS TO THE COUNTY TO CONDUCT TESTS AND INVESTIGATIONS OF THE PIPELINES.
REMEDIAL ACTIONS: THE CALLERS CREWS ARE IN THE COUNTY CONDUCTING TESTS AND INVESTIGATING THE MULTIPLE PIPELINES, ON AND OFF SITE MONITORING IS OCCURRING AT THIS TIME AND THE CALLER WILL CALL FOR ASSISTANCE AS NEEDED
This was the fourth hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Unincorporated county area Humboldt area this year and the first vapor spill in the county overall.
