Petroleum Incident in Garberville
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Garberville at around 5:05 p.m. today.
About 0.5 gallons of a substance described as “oil” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Due to mechanical failure of a company vehicle there was a release of 0.5 gallons of oil onto the gravel. Spill has been stopped and contained. Contractors are on scene for spill clean up.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Garberville area this year and the ninth petroleum spill in the county overall.
