Petroleum Incident in Willow Creek

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near merchant/business in Willow Creek at around 5:30 p.m. today.

Less than 80 gallons of a substance described as “fuel - diesel type” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

A valve on a temporary generator failed causing the release, material flowed onto soil and asphalt, contractor is handling the containment and clean up.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Willow Creek area this year and the 11th petroleum spill in the county overall.
