Sewage Incident in Fortuna

A new hazardous materials incident involving sewage has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a fire department training facility yard in Fortuna at around 10:54 a.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Reporting party states there is an overflowing manhole due to the storm event. The overflow is ongoing and impacting Rohner Creek that eventually goes into Eel River. RP will provide updates.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Fortuna area this year and the ninth sewage spill in the county overall.
