Petroleum Incident in Trinidad

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near merchant/business in Trinidad at around 9:30 a.m. today.

Less than one quart of a substance described as “motor oil” was released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

RP States: A vehicle in the parking lot is leaking oil onto the asphalt and flowing into a storm water channel do to the rain. Trinidad Rancheria has used absorbents and booms to recover the release.

This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Trinidad area this year and the 13th petroleum spill in the county overall.
