Sewage Incident in McKinleyville

A new hazardous materials incident involving sewage has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in McKinleyville at around 9 a.m. on Friday, March 24.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

RP States: A private lateral has been leaking do to unknown reasons causing sewage to flow onto the ground an a near by storm drain that flows into a unnamed drainage. This release has been going on for approximately 2 weeks. The released sewage is unrecoverable. The owner of the private lateral has contracted a plumber to fix the line.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the McKinleyville area this year and the 10th sewage spill in the county overall.
