Incident in Shelter Cove

A new hazardous materials incident has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near an airport in Shelter Cove at around 12:33 p.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

**** THIS IS A POTENTIAL RELEASE ****

PER NRC REPORT # 1372499, "CALLER REPORTED AN AIRPLANE TRIED TO LAND AND LOST CONTROL ENDING UP IN THE WATER AT THE NW END OF THE RUNWAY. THERE IS LITTLE INFORMATION AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. IT IS SAFE TO ASSUME FUEL WAS ONBOARD. INJURIES ARE UNKNOWN. REMEDIAL ACTIONS: INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Shelter Cove area this year.
