Petroleum Incident in Hydesville
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Hydesville at around 1:22 p.m. today.
About 10 gallons of a substance described as “hydraulic oil” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
The caller reports that an estimated amount of 10 gallons of suspected hydraulic oil was discharged into the Vanduzen river by a piece of heavy equipment. However, no efforts were made to clean up the spill.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Hydesville area this year and the 23rd petroleum spill in the county overall.
