Petroleum Incident in Trinidad
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a ship/harbor/port in Trinidad at around 3 p.m. today.
About one quart of a substance described as “motor oil” was released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
RP stated that due to an oil leak from a boat motor caused a release of oil that leaked into a boats bilge. Once driver noticed the leaking oil they turned off motor, leak has been stopped and contained. Oil was released into Trinidad Harbor that connects to the Pacific Ocean, no remedial actions or clean up was conducted.
This was the fourth hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Trinidad area this year and the 25th petroleum spill in the county overall.
