Petroleum Incident in Scotia

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Scotia at around 10:07 a.m. today.

More than 100 gallons of a substance described as “diesel” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per Caller "Due to earlier weather conditions driver was going to fast went off the side of the road on to dirt. Semi truck was carrying over 100 gals. Unknown on how much actually spilled. Semi truck is over turned. Unknown if the spill is secured and contained. CHP on site."

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Scotia area this year and the 31st petroleum spill in the county overall.
