Petroleum Incident in Bridgeville

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Bridgeville at around 3:32 p.m. today.

Less than 40 gallons of a substance described as “diesel” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

RP stated, Due to a semi truck overturning approximately forty (40) gallons of diesel fuel released onto asphalt and into a culvert drain. The release has been stopped, contained with sand and gravel, is not recoverable, has been cleaned up, and only a little is in the drain. The NRC will not be contacted and it is unknown if OES will be contacted in regards to updates to this release.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Bridgeville area this year and the 32nd petroleum spill in the county overall.
