Petroleum Incident in Eureka

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a ship/harbor/port in Eureka at around 11:37 p.m. yesterday.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

***POTENTIAL RELEASE***

CALLER STATED CAPTAIN ON THE M/V AGUA STAR HAD ISSUES WITH SAIL RIGGING AND ROUGH SEAS AND HAD TO CONTACT THE COAST GUARD FOR ASSISTANCE. THE COAST GUARD RESPONDED AND RECOVERED THE INDIVIDUAL FROM THE VESSEL AND THEY LEFT THE VESSEL ADRIFT. THIS WAS A SAR CASE. THERE WERE NO RELEASE OF MATERIAL REPORTED.
