Chemical Incident in Ettersburg

A new hazardous materials incident involving chemical has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Ettersburg at around 2 p.m. today.

About 10 gallons of a substance described as “paint cans” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Reporting party stated they discovered 10 one gallon paint cans on the side of the road that has spilled and impacted Redwood Creek Watershed. Release has been stopped but not contained. Reporting party has double bagged the cans and will be disposing of them. The watershed still has paint visible in it.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Ettersburg area this year and the fourth chemical spill in the county overall.
