Sewage Incident in Fortuna
A new hazardous materials incident involving sewage has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near road, waterways in Fortuna at around 12:30 p.m. today.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Reporting party stated due to heavy rain there was release of over 1000 gallons of sewage out of a manhole. Substance is on going and impacting Rohner Creek. Reporting party will be on scene for clean up and mitigation.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Fortuna area this year and the second sewage spill in the county overall.
